A child was hit and killed by a car after school in Abilene Tuesday afternoon.
According to the Kansas Highway Patrol, 6-year-old Tayla Womochil was hit by an SUV.
A 2009 Jeep Grand Cherokee driven by 59-year-old Beverly Barnett of Enterprise was headed west on 6th street. The SUV stopped at a stop sign, turned left, and struck the child.
The accident happened at 3:23 Tuesday afternoon, at 6th and Buckeye near Garfield Elementary School.
Tayla's father issued a message via social media:
"It's comes with a heavy heart that I have to let my baby girl go (Tayla) I am so sad right now. ...
