KU Selected to Research for Grant

LAWRENCE, Kan. (AP) - The National Science Foundation has awarded a $4.2 million grant to research how climate change affects river systems in the U.S. and Mongolia. Half of the money from the five-year grant will support work at the University of Kansas, where ecology and evolutionary biology professor James Thorp is the grant's lead investigator. He says that North American river systems, with their dams and presence of non-native fauna, could foreshadow the future of rivers in Mongolia.
