Several hundred people gathered in Salina Saturday evening for a community unity event.
At the 4:00 PM start, at least 200 Salinans had gathered in Oakdale Park to unify, and to recognize the importance of local law enforcement. The event was intended to show “Unity in Kansas”, following recent unrest in country that culminated with the tragic shooting of law enforcement officers in Dallas earlier this month.
Captain Mike Sweeney, of the Salina Police Department, said he watched the Oakdale event become organized over the internet in the last couple of days.
