Salina Vice-Mayor Position Becomes Issue

Salina has a new mayor and vice-mayor, but not before there was a little drama Monday evening at the Salina City Commission Meeting. The commission reorganized Monday evening, as it annually does. Commissioner Kaye Crawford was selected unanimously as the new mayor. Eventually commissioner Karl Ryan was elected vice-mayor, but not on a first vote. Typically a commissioner serving a four year team is elected as vice-mayor. The vice-mayor then typically is next in line to be mayor. Vice-Mayor Crawford was selected as mayor, as anticipated.
