Young Would Be Robber Effort’s Thwarted

A young would-be robber wielding an unusual weapon demanded cigarettes but ended up getting nervous and leaving a Wichita QuikTrip empty-handed. A boy between 10 and 12 years old walked into the convenience store shortly after 5 a.m. Sunday and confronted the lone clerk with a paint scraper. Police spokesman Sgt. Roger Runft says the small-statured child stated it was a robbery, and the clerk asked what he wanted. Runft says the boy wanted cigarettes but the clerk asked him for an ID.
