A Salina woman narrowly avoided becoming a scam victim, but lost control of her computer.
Police Captain Mike Sweeney says that a woman in her 50s in South Salina received a phone call on Monday. She was told that a company owed her a reimbursement.
The woman initially thought the call was legitimate. A few years ago she was notified that her computer was infected. She paid $179 to get it fixed before realizing it was a scam. She thought that maybe she was going to be reimbursed.
