A head-on collision involving a semi and pickup truck south of Salina Friday morning sent a Lawrence man to the hospital.
According to the Kansas Highway Patrol, 56-year-old Randall Shaffer of Lawrence was driving a 1995 Ford Ranger, headed north on US 81 Highway. He went left of center and struck an oncoming 1986 Kenworth truck pulling a trailer head-on.
Shaffer's truck ended up on its side, and he was trapped in it. After being freed by first responders he was transported by EMS to Salina Regional Health Center.
The driver of the semi was not hurt.
