March is Colon Cancer Awareness Month and Dr. Lavelle Ellis with the Mowery Clinic in Salina told the KSAL audience on Tuesday, that those age who are age 50 or above need to be screened.
"We've made great advances and probably the biggest is in the area of endoscopy," she said.
"We actually use a flexible fiber optic scope to look in the colon."
